It also ranks #5 for districts with the best teachers in California. This school district has 12,645 students in grades 7-12. With an average student to teacher ratio of 25 to 1. The average graduation rate is 97% with an average SAT of 1290 and ACT of 29. 78% of students are proficient at reading while 69% are proficient in math. In this district is the high ranking Carmel Valley Middle School, Earl Warren Middle School, Canyon Crest Academy, Torrey Pines High School, San Dieguito High Academy and La Costa Canyon High School all ranking with an A+. Located in Poway, the Poway Unified School District has over 35,000 students in grades K-12. The student to teacher ratio is 27 to 1. In addition, the average graduation rate is 96% with an average SAT score of 1260 and ACT score of 28, with 73% of students reading proficiently and 65% doing math proficiently. In the Poway Unified School District, Willow Grove Elementary School and Deer Canyon Elementary are just two of the many schools graded with an A+ rating. The top-rated middle schools include but are not limited to Oak Valley Middle School and Mesa Verde Middle School. The average student to teacher ratio is 24 to 1, which is a bit lower than the previously mentioned schools. On the other hand, the graduation rate for this school district is 98% which is higher than the previous two. The average SAT score is 1230, with an average ACT of 28 and reading proficiency of 75% and a math proficiency rate of 60%. Although there are only 5 schools in the district, all 5 are rated as an A or A+.
